For this reason beet juice enhances the health of patients with heart failure
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Beet juice enhances the ability to exercise for patients with heart failure, according to a recent scientific study conducted by US researchers.
According to the website of the Daily Mail, the researchers explained that dietary nitrates found in beet juice enhance the ability to exercise for patients with heart failure.
Heart failure is a condition in which the heart muscle does not move efficiently and can not send enough oxygen-laden blood to the body.
The researchers found that eating beet juice before exercise led to significant increases in the duration of exercise, and absorption of oxygen to the cells during exercise.
"Decreased ability to exercise plays a major role in disability and low quality of life associated with heart failure," said Dr. Andrew Kogan, an assistant professor in the Department of Motion Science at New York University School of Physical Education.
The researchers added that beet enhances cardiovascular health and enhances erectile function for males because it helps regulate blood circulation.
